Identity theft is the fastest growing crime.
Period. 28million Americans have fallen victim to identity theft and the
cost of identity theft is $56 Billion in 2006 alone and raising! You need
the necessary identity theft protection. There are a number of preventive
measures everyone need to put in place to protect yourself from identity
fraud.

Identity Theft Prevention

  • You should prevent identity theft
rather than doing something after the fact. For starter, you should
never dispose your bills without shredding and if you don't have a
shredder, tear them into little pieces before you dispose them.

  • Never give your social security
information to anyone especially if you did not initiate the call. It's
only necessary for certain items such as banking, employment records,
    property transactions and tax forms.

  • Pick your passwords carefully. Your
    personal identification number (PIN) should not be easy to figure out;
    and change them often.

  • The others are, protect your credit
cards and treat them like money. Carry only the cards you need and  stay
on top of your credit changes by checking your credit once a year from
    experian or

Report Identity Theft

If you are already a victim, it is not as
bad as it looks if you know what to do. If you have been a victim of
identity theft, you can contact the Federal Trade Commission's complaint
center by calling (202) FTC-HELP or sending an email from their website at

www.ftc.gov/ftc/complaint.htm
. Or, you can write to: Consumer Response
Center, Federal Trade Commission, CRC-240, Washington, D.C. 20580. They
have a lot of resources to help you through your situation.

Identity Theft Protection

If you suspect your personal information
might be in the wrong hands already, be proactive, do something.

The best way is to take steps to prevent
being a victim in the first place and by that I mean you should partner
